Ref 2 Thessalonians 3
Today's reading from 2 Thess 3 challenges us to live in Gods grace through playing our part in his great story. It includes praying for and participating in the spread of the gospel with swiftness (moving ahead) and living a life of doing good as a response to the Gospel we have received.
There are those who expect that once we have responded to the claims of Christ, we can rest and wait. We are to live in peace (v16) however, that peace is not "Idle" (v10) Grace is given us that we may reflect God's love and patience to the world (v5)
God does not Resist Satan for us, but gives us strength to resist him (v3)
God does not spread the gospel for us, but gives us strength to continue the work (1-2)
God does not "Make" us obey his commands, but gives us strength to obey (v4)
God does not Make us do good, but gives endurance to persist, when we don't feel like it (v13)
Entering God's rest is a state of spirit and Mind, which enables and does not hinder us playing our part in his Great Story.
We must not use his Grace as an occasion for the flesh (and self living)
" If you want to be great in God's Kingdom, learn to be the servant of all" Jesus Christ !
