Habakkuk 3:17-19

This reading is primarily about Fulfillment, and yet, it is based on a scripture passage that seems to indicate none of the typical earthly priorities fulfilled. The Fig tree did not blossom - a source of income, nor fruit on the vines, a source of wine and drink, though the labor of the olive may fail, no oil, and again, income, and the fields yield no food, to eat or to sell, though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls, no livestock or cattle, again, livelihood effected.
"Yet i will rejoice in the Lord"
Fulfillment ?
Anderson points out that Fulfillment sought through worldly pursuits and possessions is a hollow fulfillment. There is nothing more fulfilling than being the one thing you can be. That is You. God tells us we are his child, he has a specific plan for our ministry and service unto Him (and others) and the one thing we can be is Ourselves" We can be Ambassadors for Christ in the home, community or workplace.
Jesus fulfilled His calling even though there was so much more others wanted him to do, overthrow the government and set up his reign in Jerusalem, lead the Israelites back to a place of sovereign nationhood and so on. But Jesus was able to say "it is finished" John 19:30
He realised what his purpose and calling were, and he made sure that He did not get distracted trying to fulfill someone elses destiny. I love the scripture that says he set his face towards Jerusalem. He knew where He was headed and that the Journey for Him was set.
We will find fulfillment when we start to become who God has made us to be.
Ps: 145:19 "He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.
thought for the Day:
"How can life be more fulfilling for you ?"
It occurred to me through this reading that I should only be doing those things for the Kingdom which "Only I" can do. If I start doing work that others could be doing, I am stealing their opportunity to Minister" This of course doesn't mean I should do nothing, in fact, I should be doing more work to encourage, support, equip, strategize, dream and plan with others to see their ministry destiny made clear, and to enable the ministry of the Body.
Big Question : What is the thing that ONLY I can do ???
(What is it for you ?)
