If we say we don't sin...

DRP : 1 John 1 & 2

As I read this passage and I reflected on it I realized that most of us head towards 1 jn 1:9 ... If we confess our sins....he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness...

But as I thought further on the passage the thing that hit me was the preceeding verse. 1 jn 1:8.
Here it is in the message.

If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense.

Obviously the following verse tells us what to do when we sin & ch 2 tells us that our lives should no longer be characterised by stumbling around in sin, but the thing that struck me about this verse Is that we ( and by we i mean me And maybe some of you) take our holiness so seriously that sometimes we can forget that even when we are the holiest we can be it is still as filthy rags before our holy God.

What should our response be ? Keep trusting him for his imputed (bestowed upon us) righteousness, because it is the only thing that saves us from his completely justified anger and punishment.

Worth thinking about...

Keep lookin up.
